I am making the commitment today to reread Atlas shrugged.

I am not any archetype in the book and while I consider my father a great man he was not Mr. Taggart,  And of course I am not Dagny.  However,  I can make the case that 4G is the equivalent of Rearden Steel and John Galt may well be one the original four who invented the Internet.

But with Verizon’s declaration that they are going to stop paying ad valorem taxes I see a great opportunity for the discussion to be formidable.

Ignoring everything else, the question I would ask is what is the basis of the 51% market share criteria.  Wireline?  Wireless?  Voice Grade equivalents?

This could be a great opportunity for local regulators to look into the future and support growth.

We will see if Atlas shrugs or Sisyphus leaves the existing regiment in place.
