Toshiba’s got a new take on mobile internet devices, and it is one that sorta kinda makes sense. Its 7-inch JournE Touch is based on Windows CE, has an ARM processor and isn’t meant to leave the living room. QTel today announced the introduction of Shahry mobile internet “packs”. Ranging in capacity from 50MB to unlimited, they should satisfy mobile data users in Qatar. According to QTel these packs work best with a 3G smartphone, such as Apple’s iPhone, but any data-enabled mobile device should work. 50MB – Press release is not specific on this, will confirm.

Nokia E52 that includes the business phone, it is intended to improve the previous generation of the Nokia E51. In addition to the elegant design E52 also looks sleek and lightweight. Its form is not much different with Nokia E51 (candybar). However, E52 is more sleek and a little thinner than previous generations. Nokia E52’s body is made of stainless metal. The back is not slippery. Not like the Nokia E71 or E61, Nokia E52 using the concept setandar phone keypad, do not use the qwerty keypad.

The Journe Touch is able to handle the playback of a wide variety of file formats that rely on the Windows Multimedia Player 9.0 software client. Heck, Toshiba has even thrown in an Internet Explorer that is two generations old – we’re talking about Internet Explorer 6 here for a mobile Internet browsing experience that is somewhat on par with that of a PC.

In remarks reported by Digitimes , Nokia’s Multimedia Vice President Jonas Geust (who last made a splash way back in 2007 when he predicted the iPhone would tank) indicated that Nokia was planning on taking the Dual OS road for their smartphones and mobile devices. As I conjectured last week, Nokia will be using Symbian S60 for their “mass market” smartphones and Maemo for “mobile Internet devices (MIDs) for the high-end mobile computing segment”.

That said, Japan’s own NTT DoCoMo is mulling the possibility of fully entering the US cell market next year, offering up smartphones and “other high-performance handsets with its i-mode mobile internet service.” We’re told that the operator may start as an MVNO (mobile virtual network operator), leasing capacity from T-Mobile USA or AT&T until it decides on its next move.

Toshiba tries once again to a Mobile Internet Device (MID). But wait. The mini-Tablet is not actually designed to depart the living room. Journ the Touch has a 7-inch touch screen, an ARM processor and runs on Windows CE. Toshiba praised the device as the “ultimate home-media-tablet”. That’s marketing talk for underpowered “and not actually mobile. The device transmits via wireless and has its own icon-based interface, which sits on a Windows CE operating system.

Behold the Android media tablet from Shenzhen State Micro Technology Co. (SMiT ). The video below is a concept device, but it appears to be nearly finished save for the home button to be added. Watch the very end of the clip and you’ll see the tablet docked into a car mount. The MIT-560 has a GPS receiver built into it so Google Maps and your favorite navigation tools can be used on the road. When pressed about price, Philip Zhou, the Overseas Sales Manager for SMiT was unable to ballpark it. Charbax (our tipster) guesses it could end up around $200 or less.
