Not so long ago, drive-by guests made up a substantial proportion of our bookings but with the combination of a rapid rise in the profile of online reservation systems and mobile internet the drive-by is very much a dying breed. Over time this trend seems sure to have a substantial impact on the “ideal” locations for hotels. After all, when drive-by guests are less important there’s not so much need to build your hotel right on the highway as used to be the case.

Most often, it becomes very difficult for you to make up your mind on what to buy. Last night I went to the Digital Summer party at Temple, a nightspot in San Francisco. It was a celebration of technology mixed with a fashion show. Hubert Ngyuen and Eliane Fiolet from Ubergizmo and Girls in Tech hosted the event. Intel, HP, Coveroo and Eye-Fi were all there showing off their wares and the place was packed. Yes,  summers in this city can be cold, but at least there’s cool tech events like this to go to. I brought along my Nikon D300, with an SB-800 flash and Gary Fong Lightsphere to take some pics.

MSNBC Tries Desperately to Spin Racial Gun-Toting Segment - amerpundit.com 08/20/2009 You’ll recall the segment in question: MSNBC intentionally edited video of a gentlemen legally carrying a rifle outside of an Obama town hall on health care, which played while its anchors discussed how this was all just racism directed at the nation’s first black president. t shouldn’t come as a big surprise that Nokia might push further into the computing space. The company has been marketing its new smartphone, the N97 , as a “mobile computer.” And the company has also been selling its mobile Internet devices, or N-series Tablets . These devices, which are geared toward early adopters and gadget lovers, typically start at around $300 to $400. They don’t incorporate a traditional cell phone, but they come with a full QWERTY keypad and access to the Internet via Wi-Fi or through a Bluetooth-connected phone.
