Being a little bit of a gadgeteer I have a Nokia phone on a Vodafone that gives me ‘unlimited’ (whatever that means nowadays) mobile internet, amongst other things. One of my main uses for it is uploading pictures to various locations so I can email photos home or to Twitpic for example. There’s been a problem with this tho’. A few times I’ve emailed things and they’ve gone from the Outbox on my phone but then disappeared faster than you can say “dodgy canoeist” but, like a dodgy canoeist you know they must be somewhere…

Robin Williams’ movie RV may not have gathered much critical acclaim, but one scene at least hit a comedic home run with me. Williams has to get a presentation back to the home office during a camping trip with his family. After his laptop goes AWOL, he uses his Blackberry to retype the presentation and then tries to get a signal strong enough to let him email the presentation to his boss. He scales the top of his rented motor home, holding his Blackberry heavenward trying to get a signal.

I was watching the presentation of Bruce Sterling on augmented reality. He describes it as the next big thing in mobile. That reminds me of the presentation of Marc Vanlerberghe (Google) on last year’s Web Goes Mobile seminar, who showed us a video of Wikitude: The options indeed are endless. The video above shows us the opportunities for tourism; finding touristic and historical information from points of interest in your neighborhood. But it can go much further than that.

China Mobile has reported that it’s profits dropped by 1.6% during Q2, compared to last year. This is despite it’s total subscribers rising to almost 500 million during that same quarter - that’s right, around 7.35% of the entire world population are subscribed to China Mobile. Roughly every 13th person on the planet is a China Mobile subscriber. So why have its profits dropped?

So having done really well at dodging the varied ailments and bugs that my kids bring back from school or that live in the air con at work, three weeks ago I got a bitch of a virus which has wiped me, knackered my chest muscles and left me stuck inside resting while the rest of the world enjoys (!) the summer weather.

Why pay for something when it is available for free? Although this sounds like a simple axiom and downright common sense, I have personally never found it to be that easy. It takes work. And, it requires a dedication that is borderline obsessive compulsive. However, I found a great site that provides deals on mobile Internet with free laptop . With the service being a necessity for me, a free laptop was the icing on the cake. And, this site prevented my obsessive compulsive tendencies from running

Google and Apple agreed not to steal employees from each other , Apple gave Google Maps a default app on the iPhone, Safari uses Google as its standard search engine, and even Google’s CEO served on Apple’s board of directors .
