When the voice call tariff getting lower and lower, mobile operators are trying to find out the way to increase their revenue. Many value added services such as ring back tone, multimedia messaging, and various data services through internet connectivity. Currently, the competition is moving toward providing internet connectivity. When 3G operators such as Indosat, Telkomsel and XL have provided internet services since a couple of years ago, CDMA operators are currently entering the internet service business with several packets.

After close to a year of talk and demonstrations, Nvidia’s low-power Tegra chips will soon appear in mobile devices, Web Development Live a company official said on Thursday. Microsoft’s Zune HD portable multimedia device, due for launch soon, will be the first device consumer device to carry the Tegra chip, said Michael Rayfield, general manager of the mobile business unit at Nvidia, during a press briefing.

4 Billion Mobile devices with over 700 Million of those accessing the Internet is a testament to where we are now in the trend toward increasing mobility. The implications are fascinating. The non-profit mobile think tank, MOCOM202 0, has shared some compelling research as to where this is all heading and its coming sooner than you might think . Several new network technologies for mobile and non mobile Internet access are in place or being launched very soon.

August 15th, 2009 Posted in WiMAXThe critical debate in mobile internet business models is whether the bulk of usage will move to browser-based applications, held in the cloud, as argued by Google; or stay mainly with downloadable software, as now. The device makers need to position themselves for either, especially if they aim to increase the percentage of their revenue that comes from software.

In many ways it is as if we never left. 2 years ago I sat at a picnic table under a tarp on the Polish-German border on the site of a former East German military base with a couple of thousand hackers and general purpose nerds. 2 years later here I sit in the infamous Metalab tent filled with Vienna’s creative and hilarious geek crew. To my left and right, tiny laptops connected to several layers of wires.

My apologies for the long delay in posting any update, this has been in large part due to the length of time it is taking to get an Internet connection installed at our flat, indeed I’ve written this piece at home and popped into a café with Wifi to actually post it and even the ability to do that has been a sore trial.These two things will doubtless shock people not familiar with Japan or only familiar with it through the lense of its exported media.

Findings from the new “Wireless Internet Use” report from the Pew Internet & American Life Project are in. The data reflects how Hispanics lead the way in mobile content adoption and it clearly shows the significant growth English speaking Hispanics continue to have when it comes to mobile content especially when accessing the Internet. Most importantly, this data also allows us to see beyond the Hispanic lens and into the larger minority context, inclusive of African American numbers.
