I just repo’d my darling old Nokia E63 tonight and one of the first things I did was pair it up with my Sun Broadband Wireless SIM card to do some quick Web surfing and e-mail checking without opening my notebook. I preferred doing this over just using my Nokia E75 and connecting to the Internet with Smart because that would cost me 10 Pesos in 30 minutes whereas connecting with my Sun SIM is basically free (because it comes with unlimited Internet usage).

Following the example of Martin Weller , I compiled a mind map showing my own personal learning environment: It actually got a lot more extensive than I had expected. It’s surprising how many devices one quickly gathers around oneself, even if – as I am – one is very strict and only uses absolutely necessary services and tools. When I was reading this week’s OU texts by Weller and Sclater, I always felt there was too much internet, too much Web 2.0 in the different discussions about personal learning environments.

A small degression on Moblin - davidnielsen.wordpress.com
07/19/2009
One of the newcomers to the OS scene is the Intel backed Linux Foundation project Moblin . Everyone has seen the videos by now but few people it seems have actually taken it for a spin. I did that and tried to stick with it for a while on a usb stick and I made some observations. Firstly Moblin should be commented for being the first to really rethink the whole interface, it feels rather snappy even on low end hardware and it works fairly well for the cases it is designed for.

by Javier Clavette If you have been put off by the price of Wi-Fi mobile phones, then that is understandable, especially if you are not completely familiar with what they can do for you. As you can probably imagine, this does afford quite a few great advantages.

by Javier Clavette If you wish to be at the cutting edge of technology and also have something extremely useful in your hands, then you can do a lot worse than buying a Wi-Fi enabled mobile telephone. Nonetheless, the mobile phone with wireless Internet access is not just a useless trinket or an advertising gimmick.
